The volume of cargo transportation by rail in Azerbaijan amounted to over 7.22 million tons from January through June 2021, which is 0.4 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.
According to the report, the volume of international cargo transportation reached 3.46 million tons, transit - about 2.5 million tons, domestic – over 1.26 million tons.
The number of containers used in transportation was 24,028, the turnover of goods – 690,000 ton-kilometers, said the report.
The indicator of electricity consumption per 10,000 gross ton-kilometers in the reporting period amounted to 199 kilowatt-hours, the company said.
Passenger traffic by rail in the first half of the year amounted to 1.04 million people, which is almost 51,000 people less as compared to the same period of 2020. At the same time, 100 percent of passenger traffic fell on the share of suburban electric trains.
