By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said this week that the participation of the local companies in Azerbaijan's logistics projects will strengthen Russia's leading position in export to the country, provide new opportunities for work in new markets adjacent to it, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, the Russian companies are ready to continue working in Azerbaijan for a long period, to launch new productions, to create new jobs, and to pay taxes.

Besides, the ministry noted that Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a key transport and logistics hub in the region. In the South Caucasus, with the active participation of the country, the projects of the North-South, Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) international transport corridors, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway are being implemented.

In the outgoing week, the Chairman of the Board of Alat FEZ Valeh Alasgarov said that the regulatory and legal framework of the FEZ will boost the inflow of direct investments.

According to the chairman, this document and the infrastructure created in the free economic zone fully comply with international standards.

“The regulatory and legal framework provides for the regulation of the activities of the governing bodies of the FEZ, as well as investors and companies that will carry out their activities there. In addition, all local acts on the FEZ will be based on this document,” he also said.

Along with the above, this week it was reported that the development of transport communications in Uzbekistan will open up additional entrances to the markets of Iran and Azerbaijan.

So, according to the Russian political scholar, a researcher at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Karavayev, it’s necessary to take into account that for Uzbekistan, within the framework of the strategic programs approved by its president for the economy’s development, this development is aimed at increasing exports in the northwest direction: to the markets of Russia and Europe.

In his opinion, the trans-Caspian highways, including the ferry service between the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku, are very important. This transport route is already used by Uzbekistan. However, within the framework of the agreement discussed between the heads of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, it will receive a new impetus for the connection of Uzbekistan with Iran.

At the same time, according to Niva Yau, a researcher at the OSCE Academy in Kyrgyz Bishkek, the entry of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan into new markets through the transport corridors of South Asia and the South Caucasus will strengthen China's position in the region.

She noted that it’s important for China to develop the economies of all countries located between it and Europe, so that the ‘One Belt - One Road’ concept really works, creating a strong Eurasian economy.
