BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 21
By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:
This week, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia announced that the participation of Russian companies in logistics projects in the Azerbaijani territory will strengthen the leading position of Russia in export to Azerbaijan and provide opportunities for working in new markets, Trend reports.
In addition, the ministry noted that Russian companies are ready to continue working in Azerbaijan on a long-term basis, open production facilities, create new jobs and pay taxes.
Also, this week it became known that the Baku International Sea Trade Port has developed a new strategy for environmental protection. Within this strategy, a number of successful measures have already been taken to ensure environmental protection, and preventive measures have been taken to minimize environmental risks. At the next stage, within the long-term strategy ‘Baku Port 2035 - CO2 zero emission’, the sea harbor aims to reduce CO2 emissions to zero by 2035.
In addition, Turkmenistan, being the most important transport and logistics link connecting not only the border states but also the countries of Europe and Asia, makes a significant contribution to the development of mutually beneficial economic ties and an increase in the volume of transit cargo transportation.
According to TRACECA estimates, the potential of the Caspian region is estimated at 700,000 containers per year, which can be transported in transit through the territory of the Caspian states. In this regard, the organization is convinced that the accession of Turkmenistan to the Basic Multilateral Agreement (MLA) TRACECA will make it possible to more effectively realize the great economic potential, give impetus to the development of the transport sector of the entire country, as well as ensure a consistent and active revival of the Great Silk Road.
