Cargo movement increases in Iranian ports

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 14 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Ravanbakhsh Behzadian, director general of the department on port issues of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Trend reports citing the PMO’s website.

According to Behzadian, about 59 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the country's ports within the 5 months. While in the same period last Iranian year, this figure amounted to 51.7 million tons.

“Over the 5 months, 8.66 million tons of containers, 17.8 million tons of dry bulk cargo, 7.02 million tons of general cargo, 18.1 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports,” he added.

The director general noted that cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Arvandkenar, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Tiab, Jask, Chabahar, Charak, Chavibdeh, Khorramshahr, Dayyer, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Genaveh, Bandar Lengeh, and Noshahr.
