Azerbaijan imported 56,361 cars from January through August 2021, which is 41.13 percent or 23,183 cars more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing a report from the State Customs Committee (SCC).
The bulk of imports for the reporting period fell on passenger cars – 52,488, which is 40.8 percent, or 21,462 cars more compared to the same period of 2020, the report said.
During this period, Azerbaijan also imported 123 cars for up to 10 people or more, 55 electric vehicles and 7,234 hybrid vehicles.
Over the year, Azerbaijan increased the import of trucks by 87.5 percent, or 1,715 - up to 3,675 vehicles.
Azerbaijan's import of cars in the reporting period in value terms amounted to $571.7 million, which is 43.1 percent or $172.2 million more than a year earlier.
