The number of TEU containers exported through the Shahid Rajaee port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 18 percent during first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to Mohammadi, a total of 222,753 TEU containers were exported to various countries through the Shahid Rajaee port in 6 months.
Furthermore, 208,735 TEU containers were imported through this port over six months, which is a decrease of 3 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year, the director general added.
Mohammadi also noted that 141,000 TEU containers were transited through the Shahid Rajaee port within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 2.4 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
As reported, Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port is located on an area of 2,400 hectares. The port has the capacity to receive 100 million tons of cargo a year.
