By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

The first Pakistani trucks will arrive in Azerbaijan by transit through Iran in early October 2021, the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association (ABADA) told Trend.

As reported, Pakistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bilal Haye held meeting with ABADA, where the parties discussed issues of transport cooperation between the two countries.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations, implementation of current agreements and joint projects in the field of transport and cargo transportation," ABADA said.

The ambassador noted that Pakistan intends to carry out cargo transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan in the direction of Europe.

"Pakistan's National Logistics Cell company has already begun to transport goods to Azerbaijan and Turkey. In this regard, the Pakistani National Authorized Committee of the International Transport Union has begun issuing relevant permits within the International Transport Convention (TIR)," Haye said.

The sides emphasized the existence of favorable conditions for carrying out the above operations through the territory of Azerbaijan.

According to a representative of ABADA, fraternal relations between the Azerbaijani and Pakistani peoples and states continue to develop in the economic sphere.

"Azerbaijan plays a special role in the East-West, North-South transport corridors, as well as in "One Belt, One Road” strategy of economic development of the Silk Road,” the representative said. “Besides, an additional impetus to the development of regional and international cargo transportation will be the Zangazur corridor."

He also noted that cargo transportation on the basis of "permit forms" will significantly reduce the registration procedure.

The ambassador said that a delegation from Pakistan will visit Azerbaijan in the coming days.
