Kazakhstan unveils data on local car insurance

The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 577,478 vehicles over the period from January through August 2021, which is 21.6 percent more than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

As of September 1, 2021, the total number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.8 million.

The committee noted that 86.2 percent of registered cars work on gasoline. Some 11.7 percent of the cars operate on mixed fuel, 2 percent on diesel fuel, and 0.1 percent on LPG.

The number of registered car accidents amounted to 8,307 cases, which is 10.2 percent more than during the same period of 2020. Some 12,205 people were injured in these accidents.

As of September 1, 2021, insurance companies made 53,864 payments worth 24 billion tenge (approximately $56.4 million) on Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Vehicle Owners.
