Car transit through Iran's Khorramshahr port increases

Car transit through the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 16 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Department, Nourollah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

The official said that a total of 1,465 passenger cars were transited through Khorramshahr port in 7 months.

“In addition, 1.59 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port within the mentioned period,” he added.

According to Asadi, 462 ships weighing less than 1,000 tons docked at the port over 7 months, which is an increase of 7 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

As reported, Iran’s Khorramshahr covers an area of 230 hectares and has 20 platforms. The port can receive 3.5 million tons of cargo a year.
