Iran beats sets new domestic record regarding transit of goods

The transit of goods through Iran for the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2021) was a record in monthly transit for the past three years, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, the transit of goods through Iran for the reporting period amounted to 1.15 million tons.

The spokesman added that over the past two years (March 21, 2019 through March 21, 2021), 7.5 million tons of goods were transited annually through Iran.

“Meanwhile, in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), 8.1 million tons of goods were transited through Iran,” he said.

As reported, Iran's trade turnover for the reporting month amounted to 11.6 million tons worth about $8.32 billion, which is an increase of 27 percent in value, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Iran exported 83.7 million tons of goods worth $31.1 billion during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021). The exports increased by 42 percent in terms of value and 10.5 percent, in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In addition, Iran imported 26.5 million tons of goods worth $32 billion during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021). The imports increased by 38 percent in value and 21 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
