PMO records increase in cargo movements in Iranian ports

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 13.4 percent in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 11.1 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 5.7 million tons were loaded and 5.4 million tons were unloaded.

“About 3.4 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the eighth month, which is an increase of 15.2 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.04 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded, 1.36 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products increased by 2.4 percent and unloaded products by 41.5 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.74 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is an increase of 94.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 183,000 tons were loaded and 2.56 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 805,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the eighth month, which is a decrease of 2.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 761,000 tons were loaded and about 43,900 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 2.02 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is a decrease of 8 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 1.64 million tons were loaded and 379,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 8th month, 43,900 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 9.6 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 8,030 tons were loaded and 35,900 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 282,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 8th month of the current Iranian year, which is a decrease of 32.2 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 166,000 tons were loaded and about 116,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, over 110,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the eighth month, which is an increase of 179 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 6,380 tons of goods were loaded and 104,000 tons were unloaded.

A total of 625,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 18.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 297,000 tons were loaded and 327,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.07 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 8th month, which is a decrease of 22.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 589,000 tons of container products were loaded and 484,000 tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 4.63 million tons of goods were exported and 3.47 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 8th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 361,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 166,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 604,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 1.66 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 8th month. Also, 95,300 tons of cargo were loaded and 74,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the eighth month, about 4,760 tons of cargo were loaded and 45,900 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
