Volume of essential goods unloaded in Iranian ports up

The volume of essential goods unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 31 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

In total, 20.1 million tons of essential goods, including, wheat, barley, corn, soybean, rice, sugar and edible oil were unloaded in Iranian ports in 9 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 15.3 million tons.

About 4.77 million tons of wheat were unloaded in Iranian ports over the mentioned period, which is 60 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 2.97 million tons of wheat were unloaded in the country’s ports in the same period last Iranian year.

In addition, 2.63 million tons of barley were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within nine months. This is 136 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. The figure amounted to 1.11 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

At the same time, 6.43 million tons of corn were unloaded in the ports in 9 months, which is a decrease of 3 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 6.65 million tons of corn were unloaded in the same period last Iranian year.

Over 9 months, 3.78 million tons of soybeans were unloaded in the country’s ports, which is an increase of 46 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, this figure was 2.59 million tons.

Furthermore, about 167,000 tons of rice were unloaded in Iranian ports during nine months, which is 5 percent less than the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 177,000 tons of rice were unloaded in the same period last Iranian year.

About 915,000 tons of sugar were unloaded in Iranian ports in the first nine months. This is a decrease of 14 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 1.06 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Also, 1.41 million tons of edible cooking oil were unloaded in the ports for the reporting period, which is an increase of 97 percent, compared to the same period last year. The figure amounted to 717,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
