Iran to allocate money for construction of Bushehr-Shiraz railway

The government has approved a plan to allocate $200 million and 200 million euros for the construction of Iran’s Bushehr-Shiraz railway line, Director General of the Roads and Urban Development Department of the Bushehr Province Farzad Rostami said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Rostami, 140 km of the 450 km long railway line is in Bushehr Province, while the rest is in Fars Province.

The director-general added that in connection with the construction of the railway, it was decided to allocate $200 million to Bushehr Province and 200 million euros to Fars Province.

The plan to build a 205 km long Ahram-Asaluyeh railway which will be connected to the Bushehr-Shiraz railway has also been approved.

“The plan to build the 205-kilometer-long Ahram-Asaluyeh railway will be implemented together with the Bushehr-Shiraz railway plan,” he said.

Rostami noted that the railway from Bushehr to Asaluyeh will be built at the expense of funds of the Iranian Oil Ministry and petrochemical companies, while the Bushehr-Shiraz railway – at the expense of the government.

The director general stressed that $2 billion is needed to build the Shiraz-Bushehr-Asaluyeh railway. If these funds are provided, the railway line can be put into operation within 4-5 years.
