The volume of cargo transported through the Mehrabad International Airport in the Tehran Province (northern Iran) increased by 25 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, 60,308 tons of cargo were transported through the Mehrabad Airport in 9 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 48,114 tons.
A total of 88,507 passenger planes took off and landed at the airport over nine months, which is an increase 22 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure amounted to 72,644 in the same period last Iranian year.
Within 9 months, 7,747,714 passengers were transported through Mehrabad International Airport. Passenger transportation increased by 14 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 6,780,301 passengers had been transported through the airport in the same period last Iranian year.
Iran's Mehrabad International Airport can receive 18 million passengers a year.
