The shipment of about 2,000 tons of urea from Turkmenistan was conducted for the first time at the Kutum station of the Volga Railway in Russia's Astrakhan region, Trend reports citing the official website of the government of the Astrakhan region.
According to the information, the Russian Railways Holding developed a special system for transporting fertilizers from Turkmenistan. In accordance with it, the cargo is conveyed across the Caspian Sea to the port’s berth on the Volga River’s bank.
After reloading from water transport to road transport, carbamide is delivered to the Kutum station, where it is loaded into hoppers for mineral fertilizers. The cargo is then sent by train to the consignee’s address.
Turkmenistan is one of the countries producing urea having plants in cities Tarabogaz, Mary, and Tejen. Turkmen Garabogazcarbamide plant is the largest urea plant in Central Asia, with an annual production capacity of 1.155 million tons of urea.
Turkmen Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange offers trading in urea brand “B”. This week a total of 50,000 tons of urea has been offered for $12.5 million. The country exports urea to Russia, the UK, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Kazakhstan.
