Number of flights from Iran’s Urmia International Airport up

The number of flights (passenger planes only) from Urmia International Airport in the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 24 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, 2,661 flights were carried out from the airport in 9 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 2,148.

“Within 9 months, a total of 230,492 passengers were transported through Urmia International Airport, which is an increase of 26 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, passenger transportation via the airport amounted to 183,157 in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 1,818 tons of cargo were transported through the airport over the reporting period. Cargo transportation increased by 55 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 1,171 tons of cargo had been transported via the Urmia Airport in the same period last Iranian year.

Iran's Urmia International Airport is located on 343 hectares of land.
