The preparations for the construction of a railway terminal in the Parsabad County of Iran's Ardabil Province near the border with Azerbaijan will begin in the coming weeks, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said, Trend reports via IRIB.
He made the remark while getting acquainted with the construction of the railway terminal in Iran's Parsabad County.
The ambassador expressed hopes that the foundation of the railway will be laid in the near future with the help of local investors.
Mousavi stressed that after the meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in Turkmenistan, special progress has been made in all areas of relations between the two countries.
On November 28, 2021, a tripartite contract on the swapping of 1.5-2 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan through Iran per year was signed between Iran and Azerbaijan in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
The implementation of the contract began on January 1, 2022.
Work is underway to connect Iran's Ardabil Province railways to the Azerbaijani railways. A railway terminal will be built in Parsabad as part of the railway line. Iran plans to increase agricultural exports from Ardabil Province to Azerbaijan, Russia and Central Asia through the railway terminal.
