Kazakhstan scales up production of road vehicles in January 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 22

The production volume of road vehicles of all types in January 2022 in Kazakhstan grew, Trend reports referring to the country’s Association of Automobile Business (AKAB)

According to the association, this figure amounted to 6,918, up by 15.4 percent compared to the same month of 2021 (5,995).

The total value of manufactured products of the auto industry was nearly 64.9 billion tenge ($150 million), while the share of the auto industry in the machinery building for the first time increased to 43.5 percent.

The highest production volume in January this year fell on SaryarkaAvtoProm (3,716 units) and Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan (2,405 units), up by 3.3 percent and 25.4 percent on annual basis, respectively.

Meanwhile, SemAZ produced 479 commercial vehicles (+379 percent). In Kokshetau city, KAMAZ-Engineering produced 66 trucks (+8.2 percent). The Hyundai Trans Auto plant produced 46 trucks and buses, Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan - 27 buses, and the new QazTehna plant in the city of Saran, Karaganda region - 11 buses.

The top five popular brands (including exports), the products of which are manufactured at enterprises in Kazakhstan, are Hyundai (2,405), Chevrolet (1,316), Lada (1,116), Kia (948), and JAC (215).

Export of Kazakh-made vehicles remains a strategically important direction for the development of the auto industry in Kazakhstan. In January, 298 Hyundai, JAC and Chevrolet vehicles were exported to Uzbekistan and Russia.
