BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) increased by 217 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, more than 455,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port in the 1st month. Of this, about 152,000 tons were loaded and over 303,000 tons were unloaded.

Also, 151,000 tons of cargo were exported and about 185,000 tons were imported through the Chabahar port over the reporting month.

Furthermore, 1,820 tons of cargo were unloaded in the port for transit in the 1st month.

According to the statistics, 117,000 tons of cargo were unloaded in the port for cabotage, as well as 450 tons were loaded for other purposes during the 1st month.

Over 172,000 tons of essential products, 1,420 tons of metal products, 151,000 tons of construction and mining materials, and 2,640 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 535 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 102 tons of small and assorted products, 10,600 tons of container products and about 117,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, more than 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.49 million tons were loaded and 6.26 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 10.9 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
