BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. A total of 588.7 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in April 2022, which is 8.4 percent more than in April 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over the period from January through April 2022 amounted to 2.1 billion people, which is 19.5 percent more year-on-year compared to 1.8 billion over last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 157.7 million people in April and 578.2 million people over the reporting period of 2022, which is 8.9 percent more and 16.3 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 54.7 million people transported in April 2022 (an increase of 2.8 percent compared to April 2021). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 199.1 million people, which compared to 165.9 million during the same period last year, indicates a 20-percent decrease.

East Kazakhstan region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in April 2022 (53.05 million people, up by 19.1 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through April 2022 amounted to 196.1 million, which is 26.3 percent more than during the same period last year (115.3 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 3.01 million in April 2022, which is 15.6 percent less than in April 2021.

The volume of passengers transported over four months of 2022 was 11.01 million, which is 32.6 percent more year-on-year.
