BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. Creation of container hubis planned, on the basis of Kazakh Aktau Seaport Special Economic Zone (SEZ), to develop cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Trend reports with reference to press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development.

It is planned to attract world container operators as an investor, such as Singapore’s PSA International, Danish Maersk shipping company, the UK’s MSC freight company.

Currently, 18 projects have been implemented on the territory of SEZ, 25 projects are under implementation. Generally, the work of economic zone is aimed at development of oil and petrochemical industries, construction industry, ports and tourism industry.

A total of 1,720 permanent jobs have been created since the creation of SEZ.

In addition, over 19 years of work in projects on the territory of SEZ, investors have invested 260.7 billion tenge ($609.1 million), including the volume of foreign investment is 168 billion tenge ($392.5 million).

There are all conditions for implementation of projects on the territory of Seaport Aktau SEZ, all necessary infrastructures have been installed, tax and customs preferences are provided, projects have supported and monitored.

Number of important strategic projects also operate in the economic zone.

Among them, plant for production of steel pipes ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Aktau JSC, plant for cutting pipes with gas-tight connection of "premium" class - Kazakhstan Pipe Threaders LLP, project to expand Aktau International Sea Trade Port in northern direction - Aktau Sea Northern Terminal LLP.

Also, multifunctional hotel complex Rixos Water World Aktau was put into operation for development of tourist destination.
