BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation via railways amounted to 6.6 billion tenge ($15.5 million) in April 2022, which is 82.9 percent more than in April 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue was 25.1 billion tenge ($58.6 million) over the period from January through April 2022, which is 58.9 percent more in comparison to last year.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 5.5 million people over four months of 2022, which is 36.9 percent more compared to the same period of last year (1.3 million passengers in April 2022, up by 47.4 percent).

The passenger turnover amounted to 4.5 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is an increase of 44 percent. April’s passenger turnover was 1.1 billion pkm (57.5 percent increase year-on-year).

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 375.4 billion tenge ($875.08 million) over the period from January through April 2022, which is 10 percent more than during the same period of 2021.

Revenues from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in April 2022 amounted to 91.6 billion tenge ($213.5 million), which is a 0.9-percent decrease in comparison to the same month of 2021.

The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 140.3 million tons, climbing by 4.3 percent compared to the same period of last year (32.5 million tons in April 2022, down by 10 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 102.9 billion ton-kilometers increasing by 10 percent compared to last year (24.3 billion in April 2022, which is 4.6 percent less than during the same period of 2021).
