TEHRAN, Iran, May 31. Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Kheirollah Khademi expressed hope that the opening of the Manjil-Rudbar freeway will happen by the end of the current Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2023), Trend reports citing ISNA.
“This freeway as the last part of Qazvin-Rasht highway will be inaugurated by the end of the current year if the required funds are provided," he said.
He noted that it is an important step to complete the north-south freeway corridor.
According to the official, the Manjil-Rudbar freeway construction has reached the 80-percent progress.
The total length of the Qazvin-Rasht highway project is 138 kilometers, of which 130 km became operational.
Khademi said the project is estimated to cost $190 million, and the government has to provide the figure in full to have the freeway completed and launched into operation.
According to him, once the highway becomes operational, it will reduce travel time between Qazvin and Rasht by 45 minutes.
