PMO records increase in load/unload operations at Iran’s ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 6.4 percent, in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2022), compared to the same month of the previous Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 5.8 million tons were loaded and 6.8 million tons were unloaded.

“About 4.68 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 3rd month, which is an increase of 5.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 2.69 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and 1.98 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products increased by 1.5 percent, and unloaded products by 12.2 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 1.89 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 6 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 195,000 tons were loaded and 1.7 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 884,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 3rd month, which is a decrease of 23.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 769,000 tons were loaded and about 115,000 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 1.8 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 25.5 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 1.54 million tons were loaded and 274,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 3rd month, 48,400 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 37.6 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 6,750 tons were loaded and 41,700 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 420,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 45.1 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 346,000 tons were loaded and about 73,600 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 49,700 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 3rd month, which is a decrease of 8.1 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2,580 tons of goods were loaded and 47,100 tons were unloaded.

Over 580,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 12.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 274,000 tons were loaded and about 306,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, about 2.23 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 3rd month, which is an increase of 16.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 962,000 tons of container products were loaded and 1.27 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, 5.29 million tons of goods were exported and 2.73 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 342,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 483,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 998,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.32 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 3rd month. Also, 139,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 155,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 3rd month, 11,700 tons of cargo were loaded and about 111,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
