BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. As many as 5 important roads are expected to be put into use in Iran by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Deputy Minister of Iran's Roads and Urban Development, and the CEO of Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company (CDTIC) Kheirollah Khademi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to Khademi, if the needed funds are allocated in time, these roads can be put into use.

The deputy minister added that one of these roads is the Shiraz-Isfahan highway, which is 210 kilometers long.

"On average, 700-800 km long roads are put into use in the country every year. This year, we're looking at 730-km long roads," he said.

The CEO noted that also, the remaining 8 kilometers of the Rasht-Qazvin highway are expected to be put into use during the mentioned period. The total length of this road is 138 kilometers. The number of tunnels on the remaining 8 kilometers complicates the work.

“Another road to be used in Iran is the second part of the Tehran-Shomal Freeway. The focus is on putting this road into use by the end of the year, because serious steps are being taken,” Khademi pointed out.

Iran-Shomal (North) freeway connects Tehran Province to Chalus County of Mazandaran Province in northern Iran. The freeway consists of four parts.

“In addition, it is planned to open two important roads in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province. One of them is about 30-kilometer part of the 100 km long Maragheh-Hashtrud highway, while the other one is 24 kilometers of the Tabriz-Sufian-Marand highway,” the deputy minister emphasized.
