BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Freight traffic through the Azerbaijani section of the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA) totaled nearly 28.63 million tons from January through July 2022, up by 20.95 percent against the same period of 2021, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.
In the reporting period, the cargo turnover through the mentioned direction exceeded 7.186 billion ton-kilometers, which was 28.65 percent more than in the first seven months of 2021.
During this period, freight transport by road accounted for over 15.466 million tons (54 percent), freight transport by rail – over 9.394 million tons (32.8 percent), and freight transport by sea – over 3.769 million tons (13.2 percent) out of Azerbaijan's overall cargo traffic volume.
Out of the total cargo transportation, more than 7.8 million tons (27.2 percent) came at transit cargo movement.
