BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 16. Iran plans to build two new ports in the south and south-west of the country, Deputy Chairman of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Jalil Eslami said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
According Eslami, one of these ports is estimated to be built in the territory of Jask County of Iran’s Hormozgan Province. The mentioned port is planned to be the country's largest commercial port. This port will consist of three parts and its annual cargo receiving capacity will be between 100-200 million tons.
The deputy chairman added that legal work related to the ownership of the land where the mentioned port will be located have been carried out.
“In addition, the focus is on the establishment of new plants for the production of petroleum products and various industrial products in the Jask County,” he said.
As for the second port planned to be built in the country, Eslami noted that the port is located in Iran’s Khuzestan Province in the south-west of the country. In this regard, preliminary evaluations will be carried out soon. It is assumed that this port will operate on container transportation.
