BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. The number of loans issued by Iranian banks increased by 44.7 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Ali Salehabadi said at a press conference on December 18, 2022, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Salehabadi, in total, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 26 quadrillion rials (about $619 billion) in the country in 8 months.

The director general added that 84.2 percent of the loans were issued to various economic sectors and 15.8 percent to families.

“At the same time, 900 trillion rials (about $21.4 billion) worth of loans were issued to the country’s start-up companies over eight months, which is an increase of 36 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. The figure stood at 660 trillion rials (about $15.7 billion) in the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.
