BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 18. Cargo transit through Iran's Bilasuvar border terminal increased by 47 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, head of Iran's Bilasuvar border terminal Lotfollah Babaei said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Babaei said that approximately 866,000 tons of cargo were transited through the mentioned border terminal in 9 months. The cargo was transited by 39,046 trucks.

The official also added that about 344,000 tons of cargo were exported by 15,641 trucks through the Bilasuvar border terminal over nine months.

According to him, the exported goods were mainly ceramics, construction materials, salt, glass, profiles, potatoes and salt. About 83 percent of the goods were exported by Iranian trucks, 14 percent by Georgian trucks, 2 percent by Russian trucks, and 1 percent by other countries' trucks.

“In addition, about 11,300 tons of cargo were imported by 553 trucks through Bilasuvar border terminal within 9 months. Thus, 8,000 tons of cargo were imported by 397 Iranian trucks, 2,650 tons by 122 Azerbaijani trucks, 384 tons by 22 Georgian trucks, and 337 tons by 12 trucks from other countries,” Babaei noted.

The Bilasuvar border checkpoint is located on the border between Iran and Azerbaijan.
