Iran's PMO names volume of essential products unloaded at country’s ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. More than 19 million tons of essential products were unloaded at Iranian ports, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, rice, sugar and cooking oil were the main essential products unloaded at the country’s ports in 10 months.

So, about 4.25 million tons of wheat were unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned period, which is a decrease of 21.5 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (about 5.42 million tons).

In addition, 2.01 million tons of barley were unloaded in the country's ports for 10 months, which is a decrease of 21.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (2.69 million tons).

At the same time, 7.09 million tons of corn were unloaded in Iranian ports for the reporting period, which is 5 percent less than in the same period last Iranian year (7.46 million tons).

Moreover, about 3.16 million tons of soybeans were unloaded in the ports of the country during the mentioned period. This is a 20-percent decrease compared to the same period last Iranian year (approximately 3.95 million tons).

Within 10 months, approximately 192,000 tons of rice were unloaded in the ports, which is 3.4 percent less than in the same period last Iranian year (over 198,000 tons).

Also, about 1.34 million tons of sugar were unloaded in the country’s ports in 10 months. This is an increase of 34 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (about 998,000 tons).

About 1.5 million tons of cooking oil were unloaded in Iranian ports in 10 months. This is 2 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year (1.47 million tons).

The unloaded essential products were transported to different provinces of Iran by 880,184 trucks and 23,578 freight wagons.
