BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. The storage capacity of Iran’s Anzali port in Gilan Province in north the country will increase to 191,000 tons on the anniversary of the Iranian Revolution (occurred in 1979, being marked Feb. 1 through Feb. 11, 2023), Director General of Gilan Province’s Ports and Maritime Department Hossein Younesi told IRNA, Trend reports.

Younesi noted that the 45,000-ton warehouse built by the private sector to increase the storage capacity of Anzali port, will be put into use within the mentioned 10 days.

“Currently, there are warehouses in the port Anzali with a capacity of 6,000 tons owned by the government and a capacity of 140,000 tons by the private sector,” he added.

The director general said that along with the mentioned warehouse, a number of facilities within 9 projects will be put into use for the reporting period. A total of 2.07 trillion rials (about $49.3 million) were spent on these facilities by the public and private sectors.

The annual capacity of Iran's Anzali port is 6.15 million tons.

Meanwhile, about 117,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Anzali port of the Gilan Province (northern Iran) in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2022), which is a decrease of 2.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Of the mentioned volume, 36,000 tons were loaded and 80,900 tons were unloaded.
