BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Cargo transit through the customs of the Kaveh Special Economic Zone in the Markazi Province (central Iran), increased by 45 percent in value and 51 percent in volume, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Kaveh Special Economic Zone Customs Office Faramarz Omidi told ISNA, Trend reports.
The customs official pointed out that a total of 146,000 tons of cargo worth $704 million were transited through the Kaveh Special Economic Zone’s customs over 10 months.
Meanwhile, more than 11 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year.
This is an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the same period the last Iranian year.
Iran is taking a number of steps in the direction of simplifying the rules for cargo transit through the country and supporting cargo transit.
Reportedly, Iran attaches great importance to the International North-South and East-West corridors. It intends to further increase cargo transit via the country by improving railway lines within the mentioned corridors.
