BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. Cargo transit through Iran’s Sarakhs railway terminal in Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran), decreased by 30 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Iran's Khorasan Railway Department Mostafa Nasseri told IRNA, Trend reports.
Nasseri said that a total of 900,000 tons of cargo were transited through Iran's Sarakhs railway terminal in 10 months.
“Of the mentioned volume, 190,000 tons were transited to Central Asian countries, which is an increase of 93.8 percent compared to 98,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year,” he added.
The director general stressed that the most volume of cargo was transited to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, respectively through the Sarakhs railway terminal over 10 months.
Meanwhile, a total of 1.4 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran's Sarakhs railway terminal in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
There are 1,400 kilometers long railway lines in Iran's Razavi Khorasan Province.
