Cargo movements at Iranian ports up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 8. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports increased by 1.37 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same month of the last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Overall, about 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of the mentioned volume, about 6.9 million tons were loaded and about 5.88 million tons were unloaded.

“Some 4.15 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month, which is an increase of 1.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 1.88 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and 2.26 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products decreased by 14.45 percent, while unloaded products increased by 19.6 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 1.43 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 40.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 158,000 tons were loaded and 1.27 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 870,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 11th month, which is a decrease of 3.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 808,000 tons were loaded and 62,200 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, 2.59 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 16.3 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 2.42 million tons were loaded and 172,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 11th month, 66,100 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports. This is an increase of 35.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 15,800 tons were loaded and 50,300 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 447,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 37.9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 259,000 tons were loaded and about 188,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, approximately 167,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 11th month, which is an increase of 17.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 3,830 tons of goods were loaded and about 163,000 tons were unloaded.

About 963,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 10.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 440,000 tons were loaded and 523,000 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 2.09 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month, which is a decrease of 2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 912,000 tons of container products were loaded and 1.18 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, 5.8 million tons of goods were exported and about 2.64 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 159,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 433,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

In the 11th month, approximately 783,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.57 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage, as well as 119,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 170,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 11th month, 29,900 tons of cargo were loaded and 63,500 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
