BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Astara port of the Gilan Province (northern Iran) decreased by 51 percent, in the 11th month of the last Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same month of the preceding Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Overall, about 8,300 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 11th month. So, 4,630 tons of cargo were loaded and 3,670 tons were unloaded.

Of that, 4,380 tons of cargo were exported and 3,400 tons were imported through the Astara port during the reporting month.

Also, 250 tons of cargo were loaded and 142 tons were unloaded at the port for transit, as well as 119 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the 11th month.

Some 501 tons of metal products and 2,090 tons of construction and mining materials and 74 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 11th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 994 tons of chemicals, 3,410 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper, etc., 55 tons of small and assorted goods, and 1,170 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In total, approximately 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.9 million tons were loaded and 5.88 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.37 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
