BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. The volume of cargo transported in Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), increased by 9 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports referring to Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Vosughi, 4.26 million tons of cargo were transported in the province within the last Iranian year,

“Whereas, the figure stood at 3.9 million tons in the preceding Iranian year,” he added.

The director general also pointed out that the main transported goods through the province’s roads were cement, potatoes, gasoline, iron ingots, mineral water, watermelon, etc.

“Of the total cargo, 2.06 million tons were transported in Ardabil County, 1.08 million tons in Namin County, 366,000 tons in Parsabad County, 295,000 tons in Khalkhal County, 187,000 tons in Bilasuvar County, and the rest via other counties of Ardabil Province for the last Iranian year,” Vosughi noted.

Meanwhile, 90 companies are operating in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and 2 cargo terminals in the province.
