BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. More than 9.8 million tons of cargo were transported in Iran’s Semnan Province (among the regions of the province) in the north of the country, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Deputy Director of Road and Transport Department of Semnan Province, Gholamreza Tahan said, Trend reports referring to Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The deputy director noted that the main goods transported within the province were gypsum, cement, mining minerals, salt, soybeans, etc.

Tahan added that the most cargo - 4 million tons was transported from Semnan County to other regions of the province.

“Currently, about 4,200 trucks and more than 4,600 drivers are operating in the province,” he said.

Meanwhile, a total of 382 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks via Iranian roads within the first nine months of the last Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), which is an increase of 2 percent compared to 374 million tons in the same period in the preceding year.
