BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran), decreased by 31 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Approximately 2.19 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the port in the last Iranian year. Of that, about 1.93 million tons were loaded and 251,000 tons were unloaded.

Also, about 1.93 million tons of cargo were exported and 244,000 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port within the mentioned period.

Last year, 404 tons of cargo were loaded and 4,430 tons were unloaded at this port for transit.

At the same time, 8,600 tons of cargo were loaded and 2,110 tons were unloaded for other purposes for the reporting period.

Some 59,700 tons of essential products, about 191,000 tons of metal products, about 1.7 million tons of construction and mining materials, and 38,500 tons of equipment were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port during the last Iranian year.

Moreover, 6,380 tons of chemicals, 36,400 leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 773 tons of small and assorted goods, 187,000 tons of container products, and 32 tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded in this port last year.

Overall, approximately 152 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports over the last Iranian year. Of that, about 80 million tons were loaded and 71.7 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.
