BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The volume of crude oil and petroleum products loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports decreased by 8 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to the statistics, overall, 4.12 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in the 1st month. Of that, 2 million tons were loaded and 2.12 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products decreased by 18.5 percent, while unloaded products increased by 4.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
“In total, 11.9 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports for the 1st month. This is a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to the same month in the last year. So, 5.22 million tons were loaded and 6.68 million tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.
Also, approximately 1.53 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded at the country’s ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 36.9 percent compared to the same month in last year. Of this, about 140,000 tons were loaded and about 1.39 million tons were unloaded.
Furthermore, 875,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded at Iran’s ports over the 1st month, which is an increase of 14 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year. Of this, 791,000 tons were loaded and 84,000 tons were unloaded.
“At the same time, 2.97 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 73.5 percent compared to the same month in last year. About 2.67 million tons were loaded and 301,000 tons were unloaded,” said in the statistics.
Within the 1st month, 53,000 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at the country’s ports. This is an increase of 37.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of that, 7,430 tons were loaded and 45,500 tons were unloaded.
According to the statistics, 413,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year, which is a decrease of 20.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 259,000 tons were loaded and over 154,000 tons were unloaded.
In addition, 94,800 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports over the 1st month, which is a decrease of 39.9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 2,000 tons were loaded and 92,800 tons were unloaded.
Approximately 34,900 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products decreased by 50 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. About 18,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 16,900 tons were unloaded.
Some 1.82 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded at the country’s ports in the 1st month, which is a decrease of 5.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Thus, about 806,000 tons of container products were loaded and about 1.02 million tons were unloaded for the reporting month.
Moreover, 6.08 million tons of cargo were exported and about 2.68 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.
In addition, 253,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 370,000 tons were unloaded at Iran’s ports for transit within the mentioned month.
During the 1st month, 277,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.05 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage, as well as 69,900 tons of cargo were loaded and about 75,700 tons were unloaded for transshipment.
“Over the 1st month, 6,480 tons of cargo were loaded and 77,000 tons were unloaded at Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
