BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 14. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran's Khorramshahr port in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) decreased by 22.5 percent for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year,Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Approximately 240,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the port during the 1st month. Of this, more than 225,000 tons were loaded and about 14,500 tons were unloaded.
Nearly 225,000 tons of cargo were exported and about 14,200 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port over the reporting month.
At the same time, 219 tons of cargo were unloaded at this port for transit, while 486 tons of cargo were loaded and 6 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the 1st month.
Some 2,530 tons of essential products, 21,600 tons of metal products, about 200,000 tons of construction and mining materials, and 1,420 tons of equipment were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 822 tons of chemicals, 1,410 leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, and over 12,100 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In total, 11.9 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 5.22 million tons were loaded and 6.68 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
