BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. International cargo transportation through Iranian airports decreased by 24 percent, in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.
Within the 1st month, 3,160 tons of cargo were transported to international directions via the country’s airports.
Meanwhile, in the same month of last Iranian year, the figure stood at 4,150 tons.
In total, more than 53,800 tons of cargo were transported via Iranian airports to international directions over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023). This is an increase of 46 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
There are 54 civil active airports in Iran. Some 14 of them are international airports. An average of 30 million passengers are transported through Iranian airports per year.
