BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. Passenger car transit through Iran’s Bandar Lengeh port in Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), increased by 41 percent, during the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same month in the last Iranian year, Director of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari said, Trend reports.
The director noted that a total of 37,000 passenger cars were transited through Bandar Lengeh port in the 3rd month.
Salari added that cars were brought to the port by 269 ships and transited to Iraq, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.
According to him, launching of a special phase for loading and unloading cars at Bandar Lengeh port, speeding up the unloading operations, increasing the activity of companies operating in the field of car transit resulted in the increase of car transit through this port.
The Bandar Lengeh port in Iran's Hormozgan Province is considered the second most important port after Bandar Abbas port.
Meanwhile, approximately 256,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Bandar Lengeh port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2023), which is an increase of 58.1 percent compared to the same month in the last year.
