BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Azerbaijan and the EU have launched a new railroad project this week, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, the project will apply the best practices of the EU in the field of railroads as well as establish cooperation in the direction of adapting railroad lines and crossings to the most modern standards.
It's expected that the project will contribute to increasing the transit potential of Azerbaijan and ensuring wider use of the Middle Corridor.
Besides, the Land Transport Agency of Azerbaijan said this week that an international consulting company is preparing projects on the development of micromobility in Baku.
According to the agency, within the framework of the mentioned project, the possibilities of using bicycle lanes installed in Baku over the past period will be assessed, and all identified shortcomings will be eliminated.
This week, an agreement has been reached to increase the number of bus trips to Nakhchivan. Thus, at the regular meeting of the Azerbaijani-Iranian joint commission in Baku, an agreement was reached to increase the number of flights to six per day on both sides.
Meanwhile, AsstrA International Transportation and Logistics Company expressed its intention to open an office in Azerbaijan. This step will open new prospects for AsstrA's clients, expanding access to quality logistics services in the Caucasus region.
Speaking at the Forum on Multimodal Transport and Logistics in Istanbul, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission (PS IPC) TRACECA [Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia] Asset Asavbayev pointed out the key role development of multi-modal transport between TRACECA and the Organization of Turkic States for easing trade between Europe and Asia.
Within the framework of the forum, the Second Meeting of Heads of Railway Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States was also held, along with the signing ceremony of agreements and memoranda of understanding between companies.
