BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Anzali port in Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 43.5 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared with the same period last year, Director General of Gilan Province’s Ports and Maritime Department Hossein Younesi said, Trend reports.
“More than 1 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Anzali port within 6 months, whereas in the same period last year, the figure was 703,000 tons,” he added.
Younesi also noted that 171,000 tons of mining minerals, construction materials, chemicals, etc. were exported to Caspian littoral states through Anzali port in 6 months. This is an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the director general, 908,000 tons of non-oil products, including grain (barley and corn), wood, etc., were imported through Anzali port during the specified period.
“In addition, 3,925 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at Anzali port in 6 months, which is 4 percent more than in the same period last year,” Younesi said.
Reportedly, the annual loading and unloading capacity of Iran's Anzali port is 6.15 million tons.
