Cargo shipment from Iran’s Alborz Province rises

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. The volume of cargo transported from the Iran’s Alborz Province to other provinces of the country increased by 21 percent, during the first 6 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director of Roads and Transport Department of Alborz Province Hossein Parvizi said, Trend reports.

“Approximately 6 million tons of cargo were transported from Alborz Province to other provinces of the country, mainly to Tehran, Qazvin, Gilan, Mazandaran, Hormozgan and Isfahan provinces in 6 months,” he added.

Reportedly, since Alborz Province of Iran has no water border, cargo from this province is mainly transported by roads and railways.

The director also said that agricultural products, petroleum products, iron profiles, etc. were the main goods transported from the province during the specified period.

According to Parvizi, 26 percent of cargo was transported from Nazarabad County, 20 percent from Karaj County, 17 percent from Eshtehard County, 10 percent from Fardis County, 27 percent from Savojbolagh and Chaharbagh counties.

In general, there are 84 transport companies and 9,570 drivers operating in Alborz Province of Iran. These companies have a total of 10,500 trucks.
