Iran’s ports see growth in oil, non-oil products' loading and unloading

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 3. The volume of oil and non-oil products loaded and unloaded at the ports owned by Iran increased by 3 percent for the first 6 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

In total, approximately 112 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in 6 months, as was reflected in the data of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Of the mentioned amount, 53.3 million tons were crude oil and petroleum products, while 58.5 million tons were non-oil products.

Also, 37.4 million tons of oil and non-oil products were unloaded Iran’s ports in 6 months. Of that, 13.6 million tons were crude oil and petroleum products, and 23.8 million tons were non-oil products.

At the same time, 74.4 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded in the country’s ports for the reporting period. So, 39.8 million tons of crude oil and related products were oil and 34.6 million tons were non-oil products were loaded in Iranian ports.

In addition, 1.34 million TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the Iranian ports within 6 months. This shows a 5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Currently, the annual capacity of Iranian ports is around 240 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase this capacity to 300 million tons.
