BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. The construction of a highway connecting 12 settlements in Azerbaijan's Aghsu district is ongoing, Trend reports.
The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads said that work is being carried out to reconstruct the road infrastructure in Azerbaijan to ensure comfortable transportation for citizens and accelerate the development of agriculture.
Following the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, regarding measures related to the construction of a road along the Arabmehdibay-Dadali-Gasimbayli-Khalilli-Mustafaly-Goydallakli-Takla-Dalilar-Garagoyunlu-Kandoba route, which branches off from the 19th kilometer of the Aghsu-Kurdamir-Bahramtapa highway in the Aghsu district, the project of road infrastructure is being implemented, connecting 12 settlements with a population of 10,000 people.
The agency noted that a 26.4-kilometer dirt road was in an unusable condition due to natural factors. Consequently, the road, which required comprehensive reconstruction and rehabilitation, was upgraded to meet the fourth technical category standards. The road width has been increased to 10 meters.
Within the scope of the work conducted by the State Agency of Azerbaijan for Automobile Roads in accordance with the technological sequence and requirements of construction norms and regulations, the asphalt pavement has been completed on a 17-kilometer stretch of the road, and the construction of the road base on a 9.4 km section of the road is in its final stages.
The agency also said that simultaneous efforts were made to repair existing water pipes and construct new water supply pipelines of various diameters where necessary.
In the final phase of the project, road signs will be installed, signal posts will be erected, bus stops will be created, and road markings will be applied, added the agency.
