BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. Significant work has been carried out in Georgia along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line, Trend reports.
The "Iron Silk Road" project website said that the section of the railway between the cities of Tetri-Tskaro and Tsalka has undergone complete rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Tsalka station.
The source noted that specifically, a new passenger platform has been created, the station building has been renovated, an administrative building for the route has been constructed, the existing track infrastructure building has been completely reconstructed, and the power supply and contact network buildings have been integrated.
The Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Rovshan Rustamov and the heads of the railway authorities of Türkiye and Georgia reached an agreement on a significant increase in the volume of cargo transportation along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) route during a bilateral meeting in September this year.
According to Azerbaijan Railways, the parties also reached an agreement on improving infrastructure and joint measures to use the full potential of the line after the completion of modernization of the BTK railway.
The 850-km Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line was commissioned in 2017. The rapid delivery of goods from Asia to Europe through Azerbaijan increases the significance of the BTK in the regional transportation network.
