BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 21. In total, 9.8 million tons of cargo have been shipped from the Iran’s Alborz Province to other provinces of the country since the beginning of this Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 21, 2024), compared to the same period last year, Director of Roads and Transport Department of Alborz Province Hossein Parvizi said, Trend reports.
According to Parvizi, the cargo transportation was distributed as follows: Savojbolagh County (27%), Nazarabad County (26%), Karaj County (20%), Eshtehard County (17%) and Fardis County (10%).
The director general added that the main transported goods, included agricultural products, petroleum products, milk and dairy products, etc.
He also said that the cargo was mainly shipped to Tehran, Qazvin, Gilan, Mazandaran, Hormozgan and Isfahan provinces of Iran.
Reportedly, since Alborz Province of Iran has no water border, cargo from this province is mainly transported by roads and railways.
In general, there are 84 transport companies and 9,570 drivers operating in Alborz Province of Iran. These companies have a total of 10,500 trucks.
Over 375 million tons of cargo moved across Iran’s provinces by land road in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This was a 12.5 percent rise in land transportation of goods within Iran compared to the same eight months last year.
