Iran reveals cost of building Persian Gulf bridge

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. The Persian Gulf bridge, which will link Qeshm Island in Hormozgan Province, in southern Iran, to the mainland, requires a total budget of $700 million, Advisor to the President of Iran and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones of Iran Hojjatollah Abdolmaleki, said, Trend reports.

Abdolmaleki said that all the studies related to the Persian Gulf bridge have been done, and they are now focusing on finding the funds.

He also added that the construction of this bridge with the participation of China is also on the agenda. They are in talks with the Chinese side about this option. Part of the bridge construction will be financed by exchanging crude oil.

The advisor estimated that the bridge will be built and completed within the next three years. Currently, the bridge construction is 18 percent complete and is progressing slowly.

The foundation of the Persian Gulf bridge was laid in 2011. The length of this bridge will be 3.43 km, and the width will be 32 meters. The bridge has 4 car lanes, 1 railway lane and one pedestrian lane.
